Looking to fly over to Germany sometime in June/July for a week and looking for help as this will be first international flight/trip ever. Going with girlfriend and we both want to see Germany so that will be the main focus of our trip but also WW1 nerds so i’d like to see a few sites, such as Passchendaele in Belgium. The obvious question would be where to stay in Germany (most likely an AirBNB but what city) and what to see other then the main tourist stuff in Berlin/Munich/Frankfurt.
So far in planning it seems like my best options are to fly to Frankfurt as that seems the cheapest option, though it has massive layovers in Heathrow on a lot of flights i’ve found, though I guess spending a 5-6hrs in London could give time to explore a bit.
Budget wise looking at around $2k for the flight give or take and then unsure how much other then the cost of the AirBNB to set aside for the trip.
So looking for advice on:
Good Airlines that are on par with at least Southwest (I usually only fly them in the US and enjoy their flights), i’d rather not take an airline that’s like Spirit haha.
Good places to visit and see to experience Germany/Belgium, doesn’t have to be super touristy though obviously some places will be.
Budget estimates. I’m currently figuring probably $100 a day in terms of food/drink though that might be pretty high, or low, again I have no idea honestly as i’ve not been overseas.
Any other helpful tips!
